As you may be aware, there have been numerous reported cases of Equine Herpesvirus 1 (EHV-1) and Equine Herpesvirus Myeloencephalopathy (EHM) in the United States recently. HWAC and EC would like to share with you information about these diseases from credible sources such as the EDCC and the AAEP. We understand that there have been a considerable number of postings on Facebook and other media channels, which may or may not be accurate and timely. As a result, we encourage you to continue checking the EDCC, AAEP, and CAHSS resources for current and accurate information as this disease alert unfolds.

Biosecurity
All of the information resources, including the video above, stress the importance of practicing biosecurity measures, quarantine practices, and other important measures. We encourage the same especially in barns where there is a frequent change-over in horses, at events, and reconsider if the event is worth attending with your horses.
